The most widely used AI generation website on the Internet these days is Suno AI, with its users generating 46 years’ worth of songs every day. I started using it in 2024, and in that time it’s progressed from “oh hey, that almost sounds like a real band”, through “oh that sounds like a real band”, to producing some of the greatest pieces of music I have ever heard. There’s a lot to be said about that progression, and what it means for us as humans, but I’ll save it for another essay.
